Three extrememly experienced musicians in their own right, they combine here in a versatile ensemble which can probide music for all occasions, be it a recital, wedding, party or corporate event.
Born in Glasgow, Gillian studied the oboe at the Royal College of Music for four years before embarking on a freelancing career which she has enjoyed ever since. Now based in Cardiff, she is Principal oboe of Chamber Orchestra of Wales, Welsh Sinfonia, and of Swansea City Opera Orchestra and Opera Box. Gillian also works regularly with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and with the orchestra of Welsh National Opera, successfully combining these playing commitments with teaching at Cardiff University, both the Haberdashers schools in Monmouth and privately. Home is in Dinas Powys with her physiotherapist husband and any or all of their itinerent children, a camper van, motorbike, mountain bikes and walking boots. In her free time, Gillian enjoys planning expeditions involving any combination of the above.
Rosina AlterBorn in Northern Ireland and brought up in Glasgow Rosina continued her tour of Britain by reading music at York University before completing a postgraduate course at the Royal Academy of Music. Now based in Cardiff as a freelance bassoonist she enjoys the variety of working with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Welsh National Opera as well as chamber music and education work. Rosina also works with other orchestras including the Royal Opera House, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Her baroque bassoon takes her to many beautiful churches, which is a contrast from the concert halls and theatres frequented by symphony orchestras. In between sampling the rail network and B&B's of Britain Rosina and husband Tim enjoy eating out, finding good pubs and walking off the results in the surrounding countryside.
David MillerDavid read music at the University of Huddersfield before studying for his Masters at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. Now based in Cardiff, he combines teaching and coaching young musicians with his career as a freelance musician. He has worked in a wide variety of styles from chamber music and symphony orchestras to jazz, big bands and musicals and enjoys the different challenges which this variety provides. When not working David can either be found on the golf course or at home with his wife Katherine and Yorkshire Terrier, Chester. |
